The flagship

XPE Excavator

A purpose-built, single-engine heavy-duty excavator engineered around the work tool — not adapted to it. One engine, one hydraulic system: full attachment horsepower and full carrier responsiveness, at the same time.

Why purpose-built wins

Adapted machines make you choose. The XPE doesn't.

Full power to the tool

The hydraulic system is sized for sustained high-HP attachment work — 200 GPM at 5,000 PSI — so a 600 HP cutterhead runs at its rating instead of below it.

Cooling that keeps up

Cooling capacity is engineered for continuous forestry duty. No heat-soak derating, no throttling back to protect the carrier in hour six.

One system, one builder

Carrier, hydraulics, attachment, guarding, controls, and telematics are designed together and built in one shop — and the team that built it watches it run.

Serviceability

Service access built in

Standard service ladder in the engine bay, rear-mounted filters for fast access, and a clean single-engine layout with fewer duplicated service points. Daily inspections take minutes, and the wrench time happens at ground level or on the catwalk — not hanging off the side of the machine.

The bundle

Sold as a matched bundle

Every XPE ships with the attachment that runs on it — machine and head engineered and tested as one system, delivered ready to work. No integration risk, no finger-pointing between the carrier dealer and the head dealer. One builder stands behind the whole machine.

Bundles are built to order and specced to your work. Contact Powertek for current pricing and the production schedule.

Need power sooner?

The fast path: HT-575 on your carrier

If your excavator is sound and the job can't wait for a full build, the HT-575 Power Pack delivers the same CAT C13B power on your existing machine — the fastest route to production power in the lineup.

Straight answers

XPE questions, answered straight

What makes the XPE different from a standard excavator running a mulcher?

A standard excavator was never built to feed a high-horsepower attachment — it makes you choose between tool power and carrier response. The XPE is purpose-built around the work tool: one engine, one hydraulic system, delivering full attachment horsepower and full digging and swing performance at the same time.

Why one engine instead of adding a separate power pack?

One engine means one system to fuel, service, and cool — fewer duplicated service points, with carrier, hydraulics, attachment, guarding, controls, and telematics designed together in one shop. If your existing excavator is sound and you want power sooner, the separate power pack is exactly what our HT-575 is for.

How much hydraulic power does the XPE deliver to the attachment?

200 GPM at 5,000 PSI, powered by a CAT C13B Tier 4 engine rated at 577 HP — sized for sustained high-HP attachment work, with cooling engineered for continuous forestry duty.

What sizes does the XPE come in?

Two configurations: the XPE-200-575 on a 20-ton platform and the XPE-260 on a 26-ton platform. Same engine, same hydraulic output — pick the carrier class that fits your ground and your trailer.

What cutterhead does it run?

Every XPE ships with its cutterhead matched to the machine — we size the head's hydraulic drive motor to the flow and horsepower the XPE delivers, so the head runs at its rating instead of below it.

What's included, and what does it cost?

Every XPE ships standard with the Forestry Guard Package, Catwalk Bumpers, a 2-year warranty, and Powertek Connect. AFEX dual-agent fire suppression is available, fully integrated. Builds are to order — contact Powertek at 704-788-9054 for current pricing and the production schedule.
